I took early retirement from the oil industry at 55, and have spent the last ten years working part time at various jobs, along the way becoming acquainted with Paddy Doyle, Gerard and Helen Swift and the iconic Thames sailing barge, Dawn.
Having sailed on the Blackwater since childhood, Thames barges in silhouette or close up have always been a familiar site forming an important part of the Blackwater and Thames estuary seascape. To me, supporting the Dawn sailing on the Blackwater is my way of continuing to maintain this unique seascape and heritage.
